This movie, based on a true story, follows the life of George Jung, the most notorious drug smuggler the United States has ever seen. During the 70’s George Jung (portrayed by Johnny Depp) came up the ranks by selling marijuana on the beaches of Malibu, California. Said to be responsible for setting up the American cocaine market in the 1970’s, his mini-empire grew, and George climbed the illegal drug ladder, making himself one of the richest cocaine dealers in the 1980’s. Stating “if you did coke in the 80’s, it probably came from me”, George chronicles his intimate life in this tale also co-starring Penelope Cruz, Ray Liotta, and Rachel Griffiths.
