Set in the remote Australian countryof today, a young boy of eight or nine years named Chook (Tom Russell) becomes an unwilling partner in his father’s long road trip. Kev (Hugo Weaving), just released from prison, teaches his son how to live off other people, and not always legally. They camp out and travel light. Kev has no scruples and will steal even from an ex-girlfriend named Maryanne (Anita Hegh). With a rifle between them, the two hunt for food and forage while going deeper into the Outback. Chook wants only a stable parent, and Kev seems to think he is providing it.
