"Grey Gardens" tells the story of the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jackie Kennedy (Jeanne Tripplehorn), both named Edith Bouvier Beale. Better known as Big Edie (Jessica Lange) and Little Edie (Drew Barrymore), this is a unique story of their lives, which were lived in almost total isolation in their house, called Grey Gardens. Both Big Edie and Little Edie were raised in New York city, in high society, but they both chose to withdraw from that lifestyle to live together at their Long Island home. As their money dwindled throughout the years, Big and Little Edie's living conditions dropped considerably, along with their standard of life. When they were discovered by tabloids and had their lives and living conditions splattered all over the news, Jackie Kennedy decided to step in to help them out so that they could continue to live in their home, Grey Gardens.
